Welcome to The Ark Animal Hospital’s new website!
Here at The Ark Animal Hospitals’ Puppy Pre-school we aim to teach you responsible pet ownership in terms of health and nutrition, how to understand canine behaviour and apply realistic expectations and training methods. Classes are run by experienced and qualified veterinary nurses.
Using positive training techniques we teach basic commands such as look, come, sit, drop and stay and cover walking on a lead, mat training, crate training and toilet training.
Our friendly staff will work together with you and your puppy to identify and manage problem behavours such as chewing, mouthing, barking and digging.
Over 4 weeks we will endeavour to educate you and your new best friend on all you will need to live a happy and healthy life together.
All our puppy preschool graduates will receive “puppy presents” during the course and several vouchers for their wellbeing and food.

Classes are held during the week, in the evenings from 7pm-8pm. Please contact The Ark to find out when the next course starts. The course consists of 4 classes which are held over 4 weeks. In most cases your class will be held on the same day each week. The classes are held in The Arks’ waiting room.
Puppies should ideally be between 7 and 16 weeks of age and have had their first vaccination. This is the optimal time for training and ensures all puppies in the class are socialised in a safe environment which is appropriate for their age and size. If your puppy is older than 16 weeks then please contact us for our recommendation.
Please bring a lead to class, your puppy should also be suitably fitted with a collar. If your puppy was not vaccinated with us please bring your puppy’s current vaccination record.
Puppy pre-school is a four week course and includes a puppy pre-school manual, promotional gifts, graduation certificate and treats. The cost of the course is $119 (as at Sep 2024), please contact the clinic to confirm the most up to date pricing.
