We Treat: Rabbits

Rabbits make wonderful indoor pets. They are adorable and brimming with personality. They are social, and with gentle handling, are generally quite tame, playful, and entertaining to watch. Rabbits often form very close bonds with their owners.

Talk to us about what to expect if you’re thinking of getting a pet rabbit including common health problems, nutrition, enrichment, indoor housing options, litter training, and much more.

Desexing your rabbit

We all know the saying ‘breeds like rabbits’- which is why it is important that you get your pet rabbit desexed- unless of course you want to be responsible for an abundance of little bunnies! We desex and treat rabbits regularly. Male and female can usually be desexed from 4-6 months of age. The main reason for desexing female rabbits is the prevention of uterine cancer. Our vets and nurses are experienced in desexing and caring for your rabbit, so don’t wait and book your rabbit in.

Other services

  • We offer yearly vaccinations for calicivirus
  • Obesity is a major problem. We are experienced in weight loss and prevention advice.
  • Teeth problems are common. All of the rabbit’s teeth continue to grow throughout its life. Poor diet and poor genetics make the teeth grow in inappropriate directions causing all sorts of problems.

We also  offer a gold package for your pet, which is the best starter kit. It includes

  • Desexing
  • Microchipping
  • Vaccination
  • Dental checks
  • Nail clips
  • and a bonus bag of Critta Care

Plus lots of husbandry advice if needed. Ask us for more infos!

By paying close attention to your rabbits behaviour and appearance, you should be able to tell if they are feeling a little under the weather- giving them a simple once over regularly can make all the difference!
