Many pet owners wonder about the difference between a veterinary clinic and a hospital. In short, clinics focus on routine care, while hospitals like The Ark provide the same everyday services plus advanced diagnostics, surgery, and emergency care — all delivered by a multidisciplinary team with the facilities and expertise to treat even the most complex cases.

What is the difference between a veterinary hospital and a veterinary clinic?

Veterinary Clinics generally focus on routine and preventative care such as health checks and vaccinations. In the event of more complex cases they generally refer the patient on to a Veterinary Hospital for further diagnostics and management.

Here at the Ark we are proud to operate as a full-service Veterinary Hospital — offering both the primary care approach of a local clinic and the expertise and resources of a fully equipped medical facility.

As a Veterinary Hospital we work together as a skilled, multidisciplinary team of passionate experts. This approach enables us to continually expand our scope of practise and stay up to date with the latest research and practices.

We are fully equipped on-site with advanced medical, surgical and diagnostic facilities. Enabling us to offer comprehensive care for even the most complex cases, perform surgical procedures, conduct in-house laboratory testing, and provide emergency or after-hours care.

We’re widely recognised as leaders in veterinary care for both pets and wildlife; known for our extensive skills, adaptability, and holistic scientific approach to finding the best treatment for every patient.
