Dr. Joel Cuthbert joined the Ark in January 2021 after completing his Doctor of Veterinary medicine at Murdoch University in Perth. Quickly becoming an indispensable member of our team.

Originally from Wolverhampton, UK , Joel developed a love for wildlife early in life, crediting his father for taking him down to feed the ducks at the local pond and encouraging his joy of birdwatching. His passion wildlife conservation, and  continues to shine through his work.

Joel has a particular passion for greyhounds and is actively involved with GRANT, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to rehoming ex-racing dogs. He strongly believes greyhounds belong in family homes where they can be loved and cared for as they deserve. He shares his life with his own much-loved rescue greyhound and enjoys regular meet-ups with fellow greyhound enthusiasts on Nightcliff Beach.

He has a particular interest in internal medicine and pathology; thrives on the variety and challenges that The Ark’s diverse caseload brings and values the opportunity to continually expand his skills within a supportive team environment.  When not at The Ark, Joel can most often be found watching sport, tackling a puzzle or doting on his beloved greyhound.
