Typical Appointments

Comprehensive Physical Examination

All pets should get a check up from their Veterinarian at least once a year. For older or special needs pets an examination might need to be more often depending on their health status. A friendly professional vet consultation will include assessment of all body systems and discussion of any concerns.

Internal parasite control

Here in the tropics almost all puppies and kitten are born with intestinal parasites. It is also very common for adult dogs and cats to have intestinal parasites. We stock a wide range of worming medications and our professional staff can help you choose whats right for you and your pet. We can also perform fecal (poo) tests to determine if your pet does have worms or other parasites.

Digital Radiographs (X-Rays)

We have state of the art digital radiography which aids us in getting a clearer image during x-ray diagnostics.

Dentistry

Looking after teeth applies to our pets as well as us. Regular at home maintainence is important. Plaque and tartar can build up on our pets teeth over time and accumulate bacteria. These bacteria can cause a local infection, leading to an abscess around the tooth. These bacteria can also contribute to a wide array of other health concerns.

We offer comprehensive teeth cleaning and polishing that requires your pet to be under general anesthesia. Sometimes the teeth may become so severely affected from the accumulated tartar and plaque, that they become infected and/or loose. These teeth (along with broken teeth, or retained baby teeth), will most likely be removed. We have state of the art dentristy equipment including digital dental xrays to give your pet the very best.  Dental radiographs (x-rays) allow us to determine what is going on with that tooth under the gumline. In older pets, full mouth dental x-rays may be necessary to evaluate for problems under the gumline that may not be apparent during the dental examination.

Blood Pressure Monitoring

Dogs and cats sometimes need their blood pressure monitored like you and me. There are certain conditions that predispose them to having high blood pressure (eg. kidney disease in dogs and cats and hyperthyroidism in cats). High blood pressure can cause seizures and blindness. Alternatively, low blood pressure can be caused by shock (car accident, blood loss, or any traumatic incident), or allergic reactions (vaccines, bee stings, medication, etc).

In-House Laboratory

We have a comprehensive in-house lab that allows for rapid analysis of white and red blood cell values, electrolytes, and parameters of organ function. We can also test for Pancreatitis, Feline Leukemia and Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV), Heartworm, and Parvovirus. A wide range of internal (worms, coccidia, giardia etc) and external parasites (mange mites, etc) can also be detected rapidly.

Outside Reference Laboratory

We partner with an outside animal reference laboratory that provides us with an extensive list of comprehensive and specific tests for your pet’s diagnostic needs.

Pain Management and Control

We don’t like pain and neither do our pets. We work hard to minimise any pain or suffering our patients might be feeling. For any procedure that might cause pain to our patients we give high level pain control to all our patients to ensure their very best care.

Medications

For your pets best treatments we have an extensive range of high quality medications that we prescribe. These include antibiotics, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, heart medications, ear and skin medications, and parasite treatments, among others. We also sell therapeutic prescription diets made by Hills Science Diet – these are special diets that help manage specific diseases such as kidney disease.
